5 Things To Know And Remember Christina Grimmie By

On June 10, 2016, Christina Grimmie was fatally shot by a fan. Kevin James Loibl of St. Petersburg Florida waited on line for the singer's meet and greet and upon coming face to face, opened fire and shot her. Grimmie's brother tackled the shooter in an attempt to stop the assault, but the shooter committed suicide moments later. A candlelight memorial was held in Christina's hometown Martlon, New Jersey, on ADD, and she was laid to rest days later surrounded by her friends and family.

Grimmie was only 22 and had so much talent and such an incredible future ahead of her. We lost such a singer who would have inspired us through music for generations to come. I think that it is important that we remember her for all of the wonderful gifts she gave to us through music, love, and faith. Here is a list of 5 things that I believe we should know and remember Christina Grimmie by.

1. YouTube

In 2009 Christina Grimmie started posting YouTube videos covering popular songs and sharing her original own pieces. She quickly became an icon in the YouTube community. She also collabed with many other YouTube creators and was adored by them as well. YouTuber Shane dawson tweeted his love for the Christina and you can tell she left a permanent mark on his heart.

One of my favorite YouTube covers: "Edge of Glory"

2. The Voice

Christina was the 2nd runner-up on "The Voice" season 6. She choose to work with Adam Levine as her coach. Here are some of my favorite performances of hers from the show.

"I won't give up"

"Hold on were going home"

3. Touring Artist

Christina Grimmie opened for pop Star Selena Gomez twice on the "We own the night" tour and "stars dance" tour. She also opened for singer Rachel Platten on the "Wildfire" tour. She was a part of digi tour in in 2011 and performed at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas in 2015. She was touring with "Before You Exit" on the "All the Lights" tour most recently.

4. New Jersey Native

Christina Grimmie is another sensational talent that resided in the garden state. She joins the top dogs Frank Sinatra, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, and the Jonas Brothers leaving her legacy in the heart of NJ.

5. Her Faith

Christina Grimmie was an extremely spiritual individual. She had a massive heart that touched her fans, family, friends, peers, and fellow creators. She was an advocate for the humane society and did all she could to love all creatures. We should all remember Christina by passing on and sharing in her endless love for life, god, and the universe. She was taken much too soon and I do not understand why but I hope we can remember and share in her love and faith.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
