You know you think these things too.

As I sit here typing this, I am watching what is probably one of the best movies of all time with my friend, singing along to every song, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. I have come to realize that every time I watch this movie, the same thoughts go through my mind, and as I share them with my friend sitting next to me, she has the same ones. So here it is ladies and gents, 5 things that go through your head as you watch Mamma Mia:

1. Wow, is it cool or sad that I know every word to these songs?

Let’s be honest here, those Abba songs are bomb and you know it. They are super catchy and get stuck in your head all day. You only need to see the movie a couple times to learn all the words, and once you know them, you start rocking out to them every time one of them comes on.

2. I neeeeeeed to go to Greece

This movie will give you an insane desire to go to Greece. You will think to yourself, “I need to go stand in the exact spot where they are standing when they sing that song!” At some point while watching you will probably even consider moving there.

3. Donna and her friends, and Sophie and her friends are goals

Seriously though, seeing them with their friends make me hope that I will have even half of what they have when I’m their age. With their cute little chants that they do when they first see each other and how they are super close, clearly from being besties for a long time. Actual friendship goals!

4. How in the heck does she run up that giant hill to the church while singing and not be out of breath!?

In the scene where Donna is singing to Sam on her way to the church she starts running up that hill, scratch that, small mountain. All I can think while she does that is how the heck is that even possible? And when she gets to the top she’s not sweating or even tired. Like come on, you could have it slightly more realistic.

5. Man, I wish I was a part of the Dancing Queen scene

It’s only like, the best scene in the whole movie! Every girl and woman on the island ends up dancing on that dock, and it looks so fun! Also, they dance across the whole island (which, again, looks very tiring, but I guess if you’re a dancing queen you can do it). Ever since I saw the movie for the first time, I think of that scene every time I hear the song Dancing Queen come on.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
