5 Things To Do In Philly During The Winter

1. Macy's Christmas Light Show

This event is perfect for all ages, housed inside the famous Macy's Center City store. During the show, bright LED lights combine to create festive images such as snowmen and snowflakes. The show can be seen every two hours starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m., but make sure to get there a little early because people will be waiting around!

2. Ice Skating at City Hall's Dilworth Park

There are a lot of places to go Ice Skating in Philadelphia but this tops them all. It is in the heart of Philadelphia and surrounded by vendors and food. Admission is only $5 for adults and $3 for children; additionally, $9 for rental skates. While ice skating you will be surrounded by twinkly lights and lit trees. After you could even grab a nice hot chocolate from Rothman Cabin.

3. Christmas Village

Every year Philadelphia’s Love Park turns into it’s own winter wonderland. Inside the park are Christmas markets for people to buy loved ones a gift. Love Park is decorated with lights and most importantly a giant Christmas tree to top everything off. It’s right across from City Hall so afterwards you can go Ice Skating!

4. Longwood Gardens Christmas

As you walk through the grounds, glowing trees will surround you. While walking you can enjoy the sounds of the season from local musicians and special guests. No holiday would be complete without it!

5. Franklin Square Holiday Festival

Not only is this festival free but also it’s filled with lights, treats and cheer! The light show is set to a soundtrack of all the famous holiday tunes. It starts at 4:30 p.m. and continues every half-hour until 8 p.m. Most importantly do not forget to find the carousel before you leave!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
