I have been more productive this past week of summer break than any summer break before... which says nothing. However, I forgot how influential television has always been to my life and how it tends to increase my knowledge in many areas. Here are just a few things that I have learned without the help of school that I think are incredibly useful.
1. Lacrosse was invented by the Native Americans.
Okay I knew that a little bit but was completely reminded by "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" so that is cool, huh? Also realized how primitive it really is that Native Americans are team mascots... gets you thinking about real world issues.
2. Scott Disick is a Gemini.
And apparently Gemini's have a tendency to be a little hard to date according to Kourtney Kardashian. I would trust Kourtney with my life so that has to be truthful information.
3. "Cats" is still arguably (but don't you dare argue with me) the greatest musical.
It ran for 14 years, people, you can't fight statistics here. I haven't been able to get half the songs out of my head. What if my cat is a Jellicle cat, the definition of which still is mysterious to me? Guess I have to watch that one again.
4. Francis Ford Coppola directed the movie "Jack."
Whaaaaat? No way. Didn't see that one coming for miles. I also forgot JLo was in it and that is a very helpful asset for the film.
(RIPRobin Williams)
5. I am the wild card of my friend groups.
That's something I learned from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and it has really improved my outlook on things. Did I ever imagine I'd be Charlie? No, not really but it seems about right now that I've finally started watching the series. I'm on season six now so who knows what I'll learn even later.
So this journey has been incredible though I realize it started out a bit stronger and faded towards the end. I am, however, looking forward to many more interesting facts to send your way. Hope you feel as inspired as me to keep sitting in front of your T.V. purely for educational purposes.
