5 Things That I'm Forever Grateful For

Thanksgiving is upon us, and I can truly say that I love this time of year. I feel like we always want to rush into the holiday season and not spend a lot of time on Thanksgiving, but there are things that we often don't give thanks to that truly deserve it; it's usually the little things in life that we neglect, but these often matter the most. I feel bad for not formally appreciating these things for all of these years, given the support they have provided me. These things do more for me than I could ever ask them to do, and I hope that after this they know how much they mean to me. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for them. Here's a list of things that I am grateful for:

1. Cinnamon rolls

How does one express their thankfulness for something that is too good for this world? Their selflessness has gotten me through rough times. When I needed someone, they were always there. Thank you, cinnamon rolls, for bettering the world. There's never a day that goes by where I'm not grateful.

2. Menchie's Frozen Yogurt

This could be the solution that we need to achieve world peace. It's like a therapy I never knew I needed, and I feel at peace every time I walk out of my local Menchie's. This frozen yogurt helps me make rational decisions and I don't know what I'd do without it. I'm so thankful.

3. Fruit

Mother Nature did me a solid when she made fruit. I've grown up alongside it, and I can say that our relationship hasn't changed. Fruit never turned its back on me and although it can get sour with the seasons, it always comes back as beautiful as ever (but it won't if we don't get serious about our bees, whoops). Anyways, I love you, fruit, and I thank you for always being there for me.

4. Chocolate chip cookie brownies

Whoever invented these deserves a Nobel Prize. Taking two very pure and beautiful things and combining them was an act that only a genius could do. I want to thank not only chocolate chip cookies, but brownies. You guys have really changed my life.

5. Peanut butter

You've got to be the purest substance on the planet. I put you on things that I probably shouldn't, but it's just because you always make me so happy. There's not a day that goes by where I don't take you out of the cupboard and admire the beauty that is you. Your existence makes me grateful.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
