This week my dad visited me at college. I thought he'd be interested to see what goes on around campus so I showed him around. Here are a couple things he said oh.. maybe a thousand times. It was nice to have him visit, but I felt as if I was culture shocking him the entire time.
1. "Who let that girl out of the house wearing that?"
He's just thankful it's not his daughter.
2. "Does anyone wear a helmet around here?"
Your face after hearing him say this a thousand times as he sees people on bikes and scooters.
3. "When I was in college..."
Yeah Dad, we get it. You always studied and the only time you were wild was when your socks didn't match. Right.
4. "People are really going out tonight? It's a Thursday!"
This is when you can make your dad really proud. Shrug and say, "Yeah they're crazy, I'll for sure be studying tonight." Get ya some brownie points.
5. "You mean kids just skip class?!"
Registered horror is all over his face. How dare these kids waste their parent's money like this!
So have no fear, you're not the only one with a dad that should probably stay off the college campus scene. It's best to just let him bask in his "dad-ness" and let him say what he wants- just don't let anyone hear.
