There are so many things you should do before heading off to your first year of college. Do not forget that life is about trying new things, taking chances, having fun, and spending time with your friends and family.

Relax

"Take a deep breath, and just enjoy your life."

In a few short months, you are going to be starting your first year at college. This means late nights, long papers, and lots and lots of studying; sometimes you will have time to relax, but take the time this during your summer break to mentally prepare for the changes ahead. There are so many ways you can relax in the upcoming warm weather; you can just sit outside and soak in the sun's rays or hang out at your local pool.

Hang out with friends

"A true friend scolds like a dad, cares like a mom, teases like a sister, irritates like a brother and finally loves you more than a lover."

This summer marks the last time that you will have the opportunity to see your friends from high school for a long time, so make it count. Spend time with your friends before you part your separate ways and attend different colleges. You will never know when you will see your friends from high school, so plan to hang out a lot over the summer.

Explore, Adventure, Experience Life!

"Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell not stuff to show."

As Ellie in the famous Disney Pixar movie, Up, once said, “Adventure is out there!” This summer is the last time you will be in your hometown, so explore it! There are always things that you have not done, so go outside and explore the unseen of your hometown. Adventure out in your hometown on a hike or walk with your friends, and be the reason for them to smile today.

Get Organized!

"It's about efficiency, reducing stress and clutter, saving time and money, and improving your overall quality of life."

You should start to think about how you are going to organize your belongings at your new dorm next year, whether it is school supplies or how your dorm will be decorated. It is always better to plan earlier than leave it to the last minute. So, talk to your roommate and begin to plan the styles and colors that you want to have in your dorm. Also, do not forget about your schoolwork and supplies, do not over focus on the decorations in your dorm and forget about how you will manage your time with the class, organizing your school supplies, and studying for exams.

Spend time with your family

"The greatest gift you can give someone is your TIME. Because when you dedicate your time, you are offering a part of your life that you will never get back"

Spend time with your siblings throughout the summer. Do not just plan one activity throughout the whole summer with your siblings, hang out with them as much as you can because you will not be able to see them as much once you head off to college. Don't forget about Mom and Dad! Some people think it is lame to hang out with their parents while in high school. But, now it is summer... your last summer at home and soon you will be moving away. So spend as much time with your parents, and siblings and even your pets, if you have them!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
