Well Chicago, this is our first taste of spring. Even though we have a quick cold front coming right after this, spring has finally arrived. If you know how to celebrate spring right, then you know all the smells I'm going to list.
1. Charcoal or Wood burning grills.
Let's get that BBQ going to let the whole neighborhood know whats about to go down. Whether it's a meat or not, this is the most important part of a springtime cookout.
2. Fresh Cut Grass
Either you love them or hate them, but seeing a beautiful lawn with flowers is serene. To me so is putting in the hard work to get it that way.3. Fruit Blossoms
Whether it's cherry, apple or even peach if you live down south. There are few sights and smells that when combined let you know the cold days are coming to a close. Once you get the fruit, then it's time to make some pies for those cookouts
4. Bonfires
Normally this is a fall thing in the Midwest, but to me any time there needs to be a little warmth at night with a loved one; a bonfire is surely welcomed.
5.Lake Michigan
Mid to late spring seems to be the only time the lake doesn't smell like dead fish. This is possibly due to all the ice melting up north and traveling south. Plus on some days it actually looks clean enough to drink instead of its normal murky green.
