5 Signs You Have the World's Best Roommate

Having a roommate is equal parts exciting and terrifying. On the one hand, there's the potential to make a life-long friend. On the other, well.. We've all heard roommate horror stories. Whether your roommate is randomly assigned or someone you've known for years, there is nothing quite like sharing a small dorm room with someone else. Out of thousands of possible roommates, here are 5 signs you found the world's best one:

1. They know you aren't perfect but accept you anyways.

When you live with someone, you learn all about their habits, schedules, etc. and very likely will notice some things about the way they keep their living space or spend their time that bother you - and they will do the same about you. It is easy to realize that one's roommate is not perfect, but the true beauty comes when you accept your roommates' quirks and they accept yours.

2. You and your roommate speak a shorthand language.

After living with someone a while, you learn what they're truly okay with and what they aren't. You can tell when they say "it's okay" and mean it and when they don't, or when they say they aren't sad but they are. This doesn't mean that the world's best roommate has to be someone that reads your mind, but rather, someone who knows you more adeptly than most people.

3. They are respectful.

Whether it's notifying you before they invite someone over or not using your things without asking, you know you have the world's best roommate because they are respectful. Of course, this is just common decency, but the world's best roommate is definitely someone respectful.

4. They are more than a roommate to you; they are your friend.

When your roommate is your good friend, it can be exciting getting to come home to them at the end of everyday. How cool is it to automatically get to see one of your best friends everyday!? You know you have the world's best roommate if you can't wait to catch up at the end of a crazy day, even if it's only briefly.

5. You can't imagine living with anyone else.

...Nor would you want to. You know you hit the roommate jackpot if you can't wait to live with your roommate again and again and again.

College can be a crazy and confusing time full of adjustments, so consider yourself lucky if you found a fabulous roommate to help you navigate it all. And if you haven't yet, hang in there. Your perfect roommate awaits.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
