Valentine’s Day is slowly creeping up and if you’re like me, you want everything to be as special and romantic as possible. There’s only one problem -- where are you going to book dinner for the two of you? There are hundreds of restaurants across Long Island that all will try and battle it out for being the most romantic and professional for this coming Valentine’s Day, but we all know that a majority of it isn’t true. But have no fear; luckily, there are five restaurants on the Island that not only will be the perfect venue for your Valentine’s Day dinner, but also a romantic evening that you and your significant other will always remember.

5. Bistro 25.

Located in Sayville, Bistro 25 is known for is mellow mood and fantastic food selection, ranging from seafood and American style meals to French and even Spanish cuisine. Right down the street from the bay, this restaurant gives off a very personal and private feel to your dinner and with excellent service this is a nice choice for Valentine’s Day.

4. Kumo Sushi and Steakhouse.

Now, obviously, if you are not into the sushi department, you might not be interested -- but don’t judge a book by its cover. Kumo’s in Stony Brook is more than just a sushi bar; it’s also a excellent Japanese bistro, as well. The vibe in this particular place is very lively and fun, but also something special that couples will remember. With candle lit tables, nice music, and even better food this restaurant does not disappoint for the holiday of love.

3. Mario’s Italian Restaurant.

Before you pass any judgments; it does sound bland after just hearing the name, but don’t let it fool you. Mario’s Italian Restaurant in Setauket is one of the most scale Italian eateries on Long Island. The presence in this place is nothing short of relaxing and even passionate; with the staff always being helpful and friendly they really give the impression that if your night is made so is theirs. Anyone who love Italian food and wants a relaxing romantic dinner this place is a must.

2. Public House 49.

I know what your thinking already; “You mean that club in Patchogue? I’m not too sure about that.” Yes I understand Public House is known for being a crazy club on the weekends, but did you know it’s a restaurant on the weekdays? If you didn’t, you do now and it’s a fantastic one.The vibe is extremely classy with a huge dining room and a very modern look to it. Although it may have the impression from its weekend antics, Public House’s restaurant side has a romantic feel to it with a very interesting and delicious menu at hand.

1. The Melting Pot.

Located in Farmingdale The Melting Pot is one of the only restaurants on Long Island that specializes in fondue style cuisine. That being said everything about this place is amazing. The food is not only great, but it’s actually an enjoyable experience as you and your date casually cook, eat, and talk. Although this isn’t a traditional restaurant, the experience and the mood of the entire place is romantic, poritive and just overall fun which always will give a special memory.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
