"Big Brother" is a reality television show currently in its 18th season on CBS. The show follows a group of 16 strangers from all over the country while they're locked in a house in California for the summer (or until they're evicted) with no connection to the outside world. They compete in competitions each week to gain power and luxuries as well.
This is a show that will keep you busy all summer because you can watch the houseguests not only on television three times a week but whenever you want on the live feeds on CBS.com and on Big Brother After Dark every night. It's a great show you can watch with your family and friends because you get to discuss it with each other and pick who you think will win the season or who's going to get evicted each week.
1. It's The Perfect Summer Show
You know the summer is here when Big Brother starts because every summer a new seasons starts with a bunch of new houseguests (and sometimes returning players from previous seasons). We get to watch these strangers live together all summer (or until they're evicted) on cameras 24/7.
2. The Twists
Every summer there is a new twist whether or not they actually succeed is a whole different story; but the twists could be like ex's in the house, twins, siblings, coaches, father/daughter…you name it it's probably happened.
3. The Competitions
Every week we get to watch the houseguests compete in about three competitions: the Head of Household (HOH), the Power of Veto (POV), and either a new competition (previously Battle of the Block), a luxury competition, or the Have Not competition (if you become a "Have Not," you have to eat slop, sleep in a very uncomfortable room, and only take cold showers).
4. The Houseguests
Every seasons a new crop of characters are put in the house and there is bound to be tears, drama and verbal fights (and us as viewers live for it!). There are also many many showmances (some that even end up getting married), bromances, and friendships that form while in the house.
5. Julie Chen
Julie needs no explanation but first, she is the host of this show and has been here hosting since season one! Everybody loves Julie Chen, whether she's grilling the evicted houseguests or explaining the rules to a new competition.
The reason people from all over apply to be I this show is to win the cash prize. After the season ends mid-September, the two houseguests left standing will either win $500,000 if you come in first place, and the person who comes in second place will win $50,000. There is also a prize that America votes on for their favorite player of the summer who gets to win $25,000.
