By this time of the year, the buzz from New Year's is wearing off, spring semester is in full swing, and you have assignments due left and right. When I feel overwhelmed by the present, I usually cope by looking forward to my next escape from reality. In regards to music festivals and events, it's pretty much the same ones every year—so you plan to hit the ones you know will be worth every penny, but there are some major factors to be considered when choosing an event. So what if I told you that you could be a part of something that no one has experienced yet? Let me give you five reasons why you should attend Florida's biggest-ever camping festival.

1. The Lineup

If you love music as much as I do, you should at least check out the lineup for OMF 16. With headliners like Kendrick Lamar, Mumford and Sons, Bassnectar, Future and Skrillex, you know it's about to be lit. From rap, hip-hop and heavy bass to funk, jazz and psychedelic trance, there's something for everyone's ears to enjoy. In addition to the promising lineup, there will also be a Powow, which is a collaborative once in a lifetime concert under the stars, comparable to Bonnaroo's "SuperJams." Even if you don't listen to all the artists on the lineup, you're bound to explore and discover new music that you never knew existed. That's the magic of music festivals—not only exploring new music but meeting new people and learning to appreciate different forms of art.

2. Location

The first ever Okeechobee Music Festival will be taking place March 3-6, 2016, in Sunshine Grove, Okeechobee. If the name "Sunshine Grove" doesn't speak enough for itself, let's just say the festival is "on over 800 acres of pristine grasslands, clear lakes, and exotic tropical woodlands." Also, since it's in such a remote part of central Florida, you know that as soon as the sun goes down, the sky will be full of stars, adding to that "outdoorsy" festival vibe. Plus, if you're a Miami native like me, it's only a two-hour drive!

3. The Stages

Although the location is already beautiful in its natural state, the stages and art installments are what add to the excitement of OMF 2016. Put together by Soundslinger LLC, a team of veteran concert promoters and producers who are credited with festivals like Tennessee's Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Okeechobee is sure to be a hit. There are five stages total. The three main stages, located in the Grove, are called Be, Here, and Now. But there is also the Moonlight Oasis, which contains Aquachobee, a lakeside water stage, and Jungle 51 which is in the forest and provides an all-night techno experience from dusk til dawn, sure to keep you dancing until you drop. If that's not enough to keep anyone entertained for four days, there's also Yogachobee and Chobeewobee Village for the down time when you just wanna relax and enjoy workshops, live artists and maybe a cup of tea or a smoothie.

4. Camping

Who doesn't love a good excuse to bring out the tent and sleeping bag? During this time of year, it shouldn't be too hot, and it may get cool at night, so come prepared for anything. I also suggest bringing bug spray and lots of water to stay hydrated. Okeechobee is big on reusing and recycling, so try to keep it green and pick up after yourself! Camping is also a great way to make new friends and get the full festival experience. And if you're not the outdoorsy type who likes roughing it for a few days, there will be showers available for your convenience. So grab your friends and a tent and get ready for an amazing weekend!

5. Art

Although the music is the main attraction for most, OMF 16 is an opportunity for different artists to share their work and inspire others to create and appreciate diverse forms of art. So go get lost in the endless possibilities between your favorite bands and DJs—there's no time to waste with so many endless possibilities to explore!

The first annual Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival is fast approaching, and you definitely don't want to miss out. Even if you've never been to a big festival before, open your mind and enter the portal. What do you have to lose? From amazing music and company to scenery and delicious food, this one will be one for the books. If you're interested in attending, you can purchase your ticket here!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
