1. The Outrageous Standards For Appearance

For a long time, there have always been certain expectations for women's appearances. Basically, from the time we are born, we are groomed to believe that without makeup and a waistline smaller than our hips, we will never be happy or loved. Movies tell us that our Prince Charming will never show up if we're not wearing a beautiful princess gown and a pair of tacky glass slippers. Magazines promote the next fad diet so that every girl can get to her “dream body.” And, my God, plastic surgery has taken serious flight. The point is, boys can wake up in the morning and run their fingers through their hair, splash some water on their face, and run out the door with a navy blue/black outfit combination, whereas if a girl feels like dressing for comfort over style and leaves the house in her favorite pair of sweats, she is lazy and frumpy.

2. No, That Is Just My Face

Do any of us smile 24/7? No. So why is it that whenever we are seen without a smile, and instead have on a look of boredom or concentration, it is seen as resting bitch face? RESTING BITCH FACE IS NOT REAL. That’s just my face when I don’t feel like turning it on. How many of you have ever gone to work or school without your usual makeup on and gotten the “Are you okay? You look tired” comment? Just because for one day you didn’t feel like spending 20 minutes making sure that both of your eyes were even and your cheeks were the perfect rosy shade of pink, all the sudden you haven’t slept for days.

3. Did I Smudge My Eyeliner?

As I stated previously, makeup is quite a challenge. Keeping your face up to the standards of beauty is actually quite difficult, boys. Not every girl, myself included, can master the perfect smokey eye or manage to speak and smile without getting lipstick all over their teeth. There are so many brands out there offering so many different options to reach your aesthetic potential. For example, I want mascara that is going to last all day but that will come off in the shower or when I wash my face; so, do I buy waterproof or regular? I mean, they both look the same, right? When I leave my house to go out for the night, I am the only person in the world that knows that it took me a half hour to make sure that my eyeliner is perfectly even and pointed at the ends. We don’t wake up ready to go—we take time.

4. Cramps

'Nuff said.

5. I’m Broke But I Need To Get My Eyebrows Done

Being a girl is so expensive. For example, boys can get away with growing a beard so long they can tuck it into their pants. Girls have to spend $10 on getting their eyebrows waxed or threaded into the perfect arch and possibly over $100 getting their hair highlighted in a way that accents their skin tone. Bras, Spanx, dresses, heels, nails, makeup, hair, brows, styling products, perfume, lotion: that’s just the beginning of what goes into beautifying ourselves for a night out. There are so many more factors into preparing for time out for women than there is for men.

At the end of the day, no matter who you are, appreciate your woman for the effort they put in to feel good about how they look. Even if they have a date that isn’t until 9 that night, all girls start worrying about how they are going to look the day before. Appreciate us because we work hard and put up with a lot for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
