5 Reasons I'm a Cat Person

I Love Both Cats And Dogs, But These Are The Reasons I Love Cats A Little Bit More

5 Reasons I'm a Cat Person

Lately it seems that dogs have been all the rage. I can't drive down the street in my apartment complex without seeing a new one. While I will be the first to admit that dogs are great, we shouldn't forget about our feline companions. Come on guys, cats are awesome and here are some reasons why:

1. Cats Don't Need To Be Walked.

While people and dogs do need to get out once in a while, cats don't. Dogs are flying balls of energy when you don't take them out for their daily walks. They ruin everything in the house with all of their pent up energy and don't forget about the spot on the rug dear Rufus left when you didn't quite make it home in time. Cats hardly ever leave the house or even want to. They don't need to go outside, they have a litter box. An open window is enough to keep your sweet kitty at bay.

2. You Have a Forever Cuddle Buddy.

The rumors about cats acting aloof may be true for some, but not all. Most cats even love to have the attention of the entire room. My own little kitty loves to cuddle. There is hardly a night that I don't have my cat snuggled up to my side. While it may get a little annoying at three in the morning when your little fur ball decides you aren't paying enough attention to him, it is also overwhelmingly endearing.

3. They Can Look After Themselves.

I often love to get out of town and do a little exploring. With a dog that would be extremely difficult, time-consuming, and money-draining. You have to find someone to be with them at all hours of the day, walk them, feed them, and bathe them. With a cat, you only need a close friend to check up on them once a day while you're gone. Your little fur ball can bathe himself and relieve himself on his own time, the only thing you need to do is leave him some food and water.

4. They Do Love to Play.

While lounging around all day in a patch of sun is a cat's specialty, they do love to have some play time every once in a while. All you really need is to lay a string in front of them and they'll go wild for hours. Cats love play time, but they know when it is time to settle down.

5. You Don't Have To Sacrifice Hosting Parties.

I will admit that I don't often have friends over to my place, though that is not due to my cat. If you are the kind of person that likes to have gatherings at your own home you wouldn't want to leave your dog in a room or even let them roam your party. Dogs can be over-loving, or even the exact opposite, you wouldn't want your little pup to commit a party foul. Cats are pretty laid back, you can leave them in your room while your guests are over, or you can let them roam, they will find their own little quiet spot to enjoy your company.

While both cats and dogs have their own little quirks, they do have at least one thing in common: They will love you unconditionally. Both have a special 6th sense, they know what you're feeling. Whenever you're feeling down your furry friend will be there. So whichever you lean toward, make sure they are the right choice for you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
