Although it is only November and Halloween was literally last week, you can't blame me for already being excited for the holiday season. In less than a month, we will be be welcomed by the best month of the year: December. December is filled with life, love, lights and of course, final exams. But when we look past those horrendous weeks of studying and stress, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel, which will most likely be twinkling on a Christmas Tree. It is important to live in the moment, but right now, all I can think about are the five reasons I can't wait for the holiday season to begin.
1. Lights! Lights! Lights!
Christmas lights are by far the tell all sign that the holiday season is here. Once you see your neighbor or the local floral shop setting up those twinkling lights, you know the season is about to begin. Lights of red, greens, whites and golds can be seen all along your neighborhood. The more the merrier in my opinion.
2.Pies, Cakes and Chicken Dinners!
If you don't think food is the best thing about the holiday season, then I'm not sure we can be friends. Once the hot chocolate, mashed potatoes and an assortment of pies are on your dinner table, you can officially say hello to the best time of the year.
3. Sweaters, Scarves and Parkas!
Take a look at your closet during the holiday season and it'll look like you single handedly stole from Bill Cosby's wardrobe. All things cozy are a necessity during the colder months, and no one will notice the few pounds you may have gained from the pecan pie your Grandma forced you to eat, or that food belly you may be expecting.
4. "Elf," "The Santa Clause,"and "Home Alone!"
Christmas movies make the world go round. Basically any movie that has anything at all to do with Christmas or takes place during Christmas time, is a Christmas movie in my book. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, a cozy blanket, relax and have a Christmas movie marathon. 25 Days of Christmas and chill?
5. Michael Bublé, Mariah Carey and The Jackson 5!
Thank God for the radio starting the Christmas music the day after Halloween. Finally, someone understands the Christmas obsessed people like myself. I've already made a Christmas Spotify playlist to enjoy for the rest of the year.
Although we have quite a while until Christmas morning is here, I think the movies, food, lights and cozy sweaters will hold me over until Santa Claus comes to town.
