I am not usually a huge fan of changing up traditions. I like to keep my Thanksgivings pretty much the same in terms of the order in which things are done, and what foods I eat.
But every year things always get changed up a little. Whether it is a different twist on potatoes, or just an entirely new food on the Thanksgiving menu, I’ve always been happy to have something new brought to the table.
So this Thanksgiving, or maybe this Friendsgiving; try something new out!
Cheese. Potatoes. Put them together and you get the best twist on a Thanksgiving favorite. Don’t get me wrong, I love mashed potatoes, but who doesn’t love cheese and potatoes mixed together! Plus, no one ever said you had to have just one kind of potato dish on the table.
This is one tradition I can’t go without. This specific pumpkin bread is a family favorite, and I guarantee you and everyone you know will love it. You can serve it with dinner, or dessert, or just make a loaf and eat it for breakfast.
Green beans are a staple at Thanksgiving. They are very traditional, and there’s not much that you can do with them to change things up. Adding some other flavors to green beans is a good start, though. Change them up just a little and add some lemon and almonds on those green beans to add some flavor and texture to them.
As previously stated, there’s no rule against having more than one potato dish on the table. Garlic mashed potatoes aren’t any different from your favorite Thanksgiving dish, other than just a little more flavor.
Change up how you’re getting your pumpkin fix this Thanksgiving. Alongside your pie this year, try some pumpkin cookies. It’s all the things you love about pumpkin in a cookie. Plus, it’ll last a lot longer.
