As the peak Summer weather rapidly approaches, the two archetypes of Summer individuals begin to shine. On one hand, there are those individuals who adore every second that the Summer heat has to offer, and will spend every waking moment soaking up the rays while chilling at the pool or lake. On the other hand, you've got those people who melt at the mere thought of going outside when the temperature breaks 70, and instead opt to stay indoors and laze the Summer heat away while binge-watching shows and movies. For those of you who fall into the second group, this article is for you. Here are five Netflix-exclusive series and movies that will sate your Summer thirst for some new media - and hey, a rewatch or two never hurts either!
1. F is for Family
It's rude, it's crude, and it has zero need for a filter. F is for Family follows the dysfunctional life of Frank Murphy and his stereotypical 70s family. This show's wildly inappropriate situations and humor are always quick-witted and snappy, and the timely humor of those situations will certainly raise some eyebrows. This is definitely NOT the show to watch with your children, so watch out!
2. House of Cards
Given the recent situations with American politics, what better idea than to take a break away from real-life political drama than watch Hollywood political drama? Kevin Spacey's take on President Frank Underwood is ruthless, cut-throat, and unrelenting - and the way he approaches the character keeps you coming back for more - over, and over, and over again.
3. BoJack Horseman
BoJack Horseman has, over the years, cemented its name among the "Netflix Original" greats due to its emotional approach and dark, sharp humor. This colorful world where anthropomorphic animals live alongside humans is ripe with depressive undertones and, as BoJack continues to work toward his goals, he must also learn how to deal with his worsening mental health. And with season four releasing very soon, now is the perfect time to binge the first three seasons!
4. Mascots
Ever wondered what's going on in the lives of people who wear mascot suits for a living? This mockumentary film follows the lives of various people and their misadventures in the realm of mascoting. It isn't a perfect film, but it's definitely a fun one for a rainy afternoon.
5. Santa Clarita Diet
Are you a fan of gore-fuelled comedy following the escapades of somebody whose life has turned upside down? Then you are going to love Santa Clarita Diet, which documents main character Sheila's life after she falls incredibly ill and throws up a red ball. Your desire to watch the next episode will be on par with her desire to eat more and more meat.
