It’s hard to know all the artists who are making music these days, especially the ones who are producing masterpieces but are tucked away at the same time. And with warm weather on the horizon, we’re all looking for our summer soundtrack. Well, here are five artists you’ve been sleeping on that can help complete your soundtrack.
1. Jaden Smith
We all know Jaden Smith as the philosophical son of Will Smith. Maybe you remember Jaden’s music from 2014, or maybe you slept on that, too. But Jaden brought a freshness to rap that makes me wish for summer so I can blast "SYRE" at all times of the day.
2. BROCKHAMPTON
Arguably one of the best boy bands of all time. Not a boy band in the sense of the Backstreet Boys, no organized dancing to pop music, but a group of guys who create absolute masterpieces. They appeared on MTV’s TRL in February 2018 and are slowly making their way out of the shadows. If you haven’t heard of BROCKHAMPTON, you need to educate yourself.
3. George Ezra
You might remember Budapest or Barcelona from his last album that came out in 2015. But Ezra’s newest album is the indie folk album you didn’t know you were missing. Need a feel-good song? A song to vibe to? One to cry to? He’s got them all and you need to experience them.
4. The Neighbourhood
They’ve released a lot of music since "Sweater Weather" was overplayed in 2013. The California beach vibe hasn’t been lost, but they’ve transformed from the wholesome-sweetness of "I Love You". The Neighbourhood has this smoky beach vibe, like a California hipster bad boy. It’s the indie music you’ve been waiting for.
5. BØRNS
You need a flower child to counter your bad boy. BØRNS is your flower child. His newest album "Blue Madonna" transports you to a futuristic world where you don’t need to depend on anyone. The album speaks volumes on living independently and living it successfully. Wanna feel like you can be a flower child and kill a man at the same time? BØRNS.
