4 Movies To Watch Throughout The Jubilee Year Of Mercury

I would never change a part of me. God made me this way. To some people, it may be tough to be open with your faith; but for me, I do everything I can to embrace it. God has sculpted a path for me before I was even born. He knew who I was meant to be. My family has always been accepting and growing in their faith. They encourage me to continue to grow in my faith every day.

As a Christian, the Pope is seen as the head of the Catholic Church. This year, he declared that the year of 2016 would be considered "The Jubilee Year of Mercury." Throughout this year, I have been trying to grow more in my faith. As a visual person, I have a love for movies. There are a number of religious movies that always know how to keep me grounded in my faith to the lord. Throughout the rest of the Jubilee Year, consider watching the following movies.

1. "The Young Messiah" (2016)

This movie gives great in sight to the Childhood of Jesus Christ. Throughout the movie, you see a 7-year-old Jesus discovering his nature and his purpose. It came out in March of 2016 and brings a whole new light to the story of Jesus.

2. "The Nativity Story" (2006)

One of my favorite classics is "The Nativity Story." It came out December 1, 2006. The story of Mary and Joseph always amazes me. They had such fate when everyone else didn't believe them. They had to trust and believe. Its the famous story of the birth of Jesus; it always shows everything Mary and Joseph had to go through before they had Jesus.

3. "Exodus: Gods and Kings" (2014)

Releasing in December 2014, Christian Bale takes on the role of Moses. This story has always been a favorite of mine ever since I was a little kid. The tale of Moses and Ramses is an absolutely amazing battle of brotherhood and faith. Throughout the movie, it shows the power of God through a child. Moses was born a Hebrew but raised as an Egyptian. He soon learns he is the one who will free all the slaves in Egypt.

4. "Risen" (2016)

In February, 2016, "Risen" was released. This movie shows the story of Clavius, a powerful Roman Military Tribune. Clavius investigates the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion. He struggles with his obsession with this mystery and ends up becoming a follower of Jesus Christ when he sees him in broad daylight. This was a story I had never known before so it was great to see a new perspective.

These movies really have a special place in my heart and always will. It brings a whole new meaning to these bible stories. These religious films can really inspire and ground me. I encourage everyone to watch these amazing films throughout the rest of this Jubilee Year of Mercury.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
