5 Marissa Cooper Moments That Will Make You Miss 'The OC'

In This Article:

Genuinely one of the best shows in history is 'The OC.' 'The OC' was filled with lots of drama, laughs, and tears as we watched the affluent teenagers of Newport Beach live their lavish lives.

Mischa Barton starred in the first three seasons as one of the main cast members, Marissa Cooper. Season four, she departed the series and any true fan of the show knows that season was the worst.

Marissa Cooper was the typical girl next door. She was beautiful, nice, popular, and of course, deeply troubled. However, even though Marissa made some questionable choices, she is still forever cemented as one of the most amazing characters on TV, at least in my world.

Back in its hay day, Mischa was the "it" girl. She was on tons of magazines, going to the best parties, and living her best life all because Marissa Cooper was so influential during that time.

1. When Marissa stole a bottle in the premiere episode.

Starting off the series in the most Marissa way she could, during the first episode she swiped a bottle of vodka from the bar at the charity fashion show. Obviously I do not condone stealing alcohol from a bar, but this made Marissa look like a badass to her friends.

2. Marissa and Ryan's NYE kiss.

Also in the first season, Ryan and Marissa's kiss at Oliver's New Year's party. Marissa was so happy that Ryan showed up right as the clock struck midnight. This scene made everyone wish they had a Ryan Atwood, as if they didn't already.

3. When Marissa had her freak out.

Another scene that any true OC fan would remember. When Marissa screamed at her mom, freaked out, and threw her lounge chair in the pool. We stan her for finally expressing how she felt to her insane mother Julie Cooper-Nichol. However, maybe she doesn't have to throw what we know is expensive af furniture into the water.

4. When Marissa and Ryan went holiday shopping.

This was one of the purest and most wholesome scenes of the entire series. Marissa and Ryan shopped all around the mall for "Chrismukkah" (Christmas and Hannukah) presents. They went to all the department stores, had tons of cute montage scenes, but unfortunately, Marissa had to ruin it by getting caught shoplifting at the end. We still love her and I get why she wanted to get Ryan a nice watch!

5. The car accident in the finale.

*Spoiler* When Marissa died in the season three finale, people were floored. This was the most heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, sad, terrible thing to see. After three seasons of rooting for her and thinking she was about to get out of California and better herself. Even after all these years, I will always hate Volchok for causing that car wreck.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
