UC's nickname, "Under Construction", tends to hold true. With three? (that I know of) projects underway on campus, I have the true HONOR of living next to the new Sawyer Residence Hall (can you feel my sarcasm?).
The construction began on the first day of my freshman year - a brutal awakening to the next four years of my life.
At the time, the construction was a nuisance but would disappear by 4 pm, and then peace could ensue. Now, it has become 24/7. When I was walking back from the library last night, I heard the construction. It was 11 PM.
Construction beginning at 4 AM combined with a human that already has sleeping issues? No thank you.
Here's 5 Things Living Next to Construction Has Done to Me:
1. Turned me into a Grandma
Going to bed at 9 PM is the new norm... when I'm going to be RUDELY awoken at 4 or 5 AM.
2. Made Me Bitter At ALL Construction
Driving on I-71 or I-75 north out of town just makes me angry. Why does construction never leave me?!?!?
3. Made Me a Morning Person
I typically evolve into new forms of myself... when I have to. If I can't sleep, may as well embrace the day!
4. Made Me Accept Things As They Come
"It could be worse" I say as they hot water goes out due to construction.
5. Made Me Discover How Slow Construction Is
WHY DOES IT TAKE FOUR YEARS? SIGH.
