Dory, from the film "Finding Nemo" is a delightful character. She is the funny, blue fish that has a "glass half full" attitude. Her idiosyncrasies are what makes her such a lovable and relatable character. There are instances during college where Dory epitomizes what us college students are going through, because college is simultaneously stressful, weird, fun, and difficult; just like Dory's life. Below are five ways college students are eerily similar to Dory.
1. When we are sad, the only motivation is to "just keep swimming!"
College is definitely a grind. The only way to get through all of the tedious homework assignments, tests, projects, sub-par food, lack of sleep and stress is simply to just get through it, or in other words just keep swimming!
2. When we cannot remember people's names during the first week of college
The fact that Dory could not figure out Nemo's name for the entirety of the movie is analogous to the absurdly awkward, but humorous first week of college, when we cannot even remember the name of the person that we were currently talking to.
3. When we cannot remember the answer to a test question:
We spend countless hours studying for midterms and finals, yet we almost always come across a frustrating question that we just cannot remember the answer to. Therefore, we blame our genetics for not having our backs when we need them the most.
4. College drives us crazy sometimes, so we end up doing paranormal things, like speaking whale
I don't think that this one needs further explanation. You all know what I am talking about.
5. When we study for finals by constantly repeating things for memorization purposes
We all do this in order to make sure we get the best grade possible on our finals. As silly as Dory makes it seem in "Finding Nemo," this method is actually helpful to college students!
There is certainly a correlation between college students and Dory from "Finding Nemo," as ridiculous as that sounds. However, she resembles college students a little bit too well.
Stay Warm,
