If you're a complete mess like me, then you haven't started your Christmas shopping yet. As I'm writing this, there are nine days until Christmas, and while I have a basic idea of what to get everyone, I still need to go out and buy everything. Given the fact that I'm also a struggling college student, I also don't have exorbitant funds to afford gifts for the people in my life. However, if you play it smart (and search for those online shopping deals), you can get the people in your life something sweet to show that you really care!

1. Make Something Yourself

This may seem like the easy way out for some people, but I guarantee the people in your life will appreciate something homemade and heartfelt, rather than just buying them something.

2. Offer to Buy (or Make) Them Dinner

I've learned the joys of this trick last Christmas, and people appreciate a nice meal out more than you'd think. They get to pick the restaurant and they get to order whatever they want, and you can cover the bill as their 'gift.' It's great because you can choose to have your dinner date when you have more money! This has the potential to backfire when that special person in your life decides to order the most expensive item on the menu, but hey, it's only once a year, right? If you wanna save extra money, cooking them a meal that they love is also a generous way to show your appreciation and affection.

3. Buy Them a Few Small Things

This is another great trick that I've learned. Buying someone a few small gifts makes it look like you've put in effort and spent a lot of money, where in reality, you've spent maybe $20 for everything. It's also more things for them to open, which is the fun of gift giving in the first place!

4. Offer to Do Something Together

Maybe it's just me, but I would take an experience over a wrapped gift any day of the week. Not giving someone a gift but offering to see a movie with them or going to a museum together is a great way to spend time with someone you love, on a budget. (P.S. if you live in the New York City area, you can pay what you want for both the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of Modern Art is free on Friday nights from 4pm to 8pm!)

5. Buy Them Something That They Need

Does your friend need more socks? Is your mom complaining about how she needs a keychain? Is your boyfriend in desperate need of some more pens for the upcoming semester? Than getting them something that they need is a great gift idea, and it also shows that you listen to everything that they say.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
