"She's the Man," released in 2006, is one of those movies that just never gets old—a classic. I am pretty sure I spent an entire summer watching it at least 27 times and it consistently tops people's "favorite movie" list, and let's be honest, it is not because Amanda Bynes is a completely convincing dude or just because Channing Tatum is such a heartthrob. When you really dig into it, "She's the Man" is full of important life lessons applicable to all. Here are the five most important life lessons that this movie presents.
1. Proper etiquette
"She's the Man" follows Viola as she navigates her way toward the Debutante Ball. She teaches us all about chewing with our mouths closed, how to behave at a children's carnival and how to fight like a lady in the bathroom. Also, be sure that your debutante dress has enough ruffles!
2. Dating advice
Amidst Duke's lust after Olivia, we witness his difficulty flirting, breaking the perpetual stereotype that the sexy jock knows just what to say. Ultimately, we learn that talking about animal by-products is always a safe bet!
3. Chasing dreams
Sebastian teaches us just how committed we need to be to our dreams if we really want to achieve them. Sebastian went all in: jumping out of windows, pretending to have Mad Cow Disease and flying to London to pursue his music career. Take risks!
4. Handling difficult situations
Despite the "really tangled web" that Olivia and Viola find themselves in, Viola reminds us to just go with the flow and everything will turn out alright. Relax!
5. How to end a bad relationship
The infamous pizza scene, responsible for Viola's immediate rise in popularity, as well as my favorite scene in the entire movie. Viola produces the perfect one-liner sure to end any rocky relationship.
Next time you watch this classic film with your gal pals at a slumber party or with your latest crush, be sure to look out for these important lessons as well, as the countless others that this timeless flick provides.
