June is LGBT+ Pride Month, so it's a great time to be gay. Here are five destinations within the United States known for their gay communities, party scenes, LGBT+ history, and yearly pride parades!

1. San Francisco, CA, USA

San Francisco obviously tops this list, having an extensive LGBT+ history. The Castro District was one of the first predominantly gay neighborhoods in America, and is responsible for electing the first openly gay politician, Harvey Milk. One can enjoy a wide variety of LGBT+ clubs and bars, some catering specifically to gay men, older adults, transgender folks, and drag performances. There's also the legendary San Francisco Pride Parade in June.

2. New York, New York

New York City is credited with starting the modern gay rights movement with the Stonewall Riots of 1969. It's vibrant gay community has been recorded since as early as the 1920s. Concentrated in the neighborhoods of Chelsea and Greenwich Village, there are a wide array of LGBT+ themed and friendly clubs and restaurants, including Big Gay Ice Cream.

3. Atlanta, Georgia

Midtown Atlanta is one of the oldest "gayborhoods" in the country, and has the distinction of being predominantly black as well. Like most major cities these days, it has a Pride Festival in June and plenty of gay bars and gatherings.

4. New Orleans, Louisiana

New Orleans has a vibrant, rowdy gay nightlife and culture that goes hand-in-hand with its well-known party scene. Pictured above is something quite unique: a gay Easter parade. I'm sure Jesus would approve!

5. Key West, Florida

Last on this list is Key West, Florida. In addition to the expected gay pride events and gay bars, Key West is also home to such things like a gay sailing company, as well as the usual museums, monuments, and tours.

Go have some fun this summer!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
