It's finally October so everyone knows what that means: Halloween, candy, fall weather, costumes, pumpkin and most importantly haunted houses.

Haunted houses are a great way to hang out with your family and/or friends. You can either fun where you're only a little scared and spend the whole time laughing by scaring your friends, or you can be the one scared to death to the point where you almost pee on yourself. Either way, you'll have fun.

1. Gateway Haunted Playhouse, Bellport, NY

I always go every single year, and every year is pretty amazing. It's so amazing that it was even featured in Buzzfeed's "25 Haunted Houses Across America That Will Scare The Crap Out Of You" so you definitely have to check it out.

2. Bayville Scream Park,Bayville, NY

It features a few different "attractions" such as: The Bloodworth Haunted Mansion, Uncle Needle's Fun House of Fear, Temple of Terror, Zombie Pirates and Evil in the Woods.

3. Darkside Haunted House, Wading River, NY

It's literally in the middle of nowhere... With scary looking people. Imagine that.

4. Restless Souls Haunted House Complex, Huntington Station, NY

5. NYZ Apocalypse

This one's a bit different since it's not a haunted house, it's a zombie apocalypse like house. Where you have more of an interactive zombie experience... a must-check-out!
