Any Georgia native knows... we don't really handle the cold here well. Honestly, when temperatures dip in Georgia, we all kind of freak out. It's about that time of year again, and we are starting to face "colder" temperatures. Here are 5 things any Georgia native knows to be true about the cold weather.

1. It's honestly not even that cold.

Down here in the south, we kinda complain when the weather gets below 50. Everyone from up North mocks us, we're just really not used to the weather not being hot and humid. Each year, this adjustment comes without warning and randomly, so we never really have time to prepare. Us poor little Georgians.

2. It's hot by afternoon.

Yeah, it's really cold in the morning. However, by afternoon it may be around 80 degrees. You're never really sure how to dress, and you're probably burning up in the afternoon. It's a balance none of us have ever really been able to find. Maybe next year we'll figure it out.

3. Layers are the only option.

Like I said, the weather's incredibly variable. You have to plan to wear a short-sleeved shirt, a sweater, and possibly a heavier jacket just to account for the weather in the morning, afternoon, and at night. You get sick of lugging around your jacket during the hot parts of the day, but you really just have no other choice.

4. It's always cold, but never cold enough.

No matter how many nights you wore your pajamas inside out, you've definitely been disappointed at least 5 times as a Georgia native when waiting for snow. Down here, the forecast of potential snow causes much excitement- then often never happens at all. As a kid, you definitely got your hopes up that school was going to get canceled one too many times.

5. When it does snow, it's mayhem.

If we all recall the "Snowpocolypse," obviously, Georgia doesn't know how to deal with snow. Anytime there is a forecast of frosty temperatures, Georgians flock to their nearest Publix to buy all of the bread and milk in sight. While snow is often just a prediction that doesn't happen, when it does school can be canceled for weeks at a time. We're new to this, okay?

As a native Georgian, I know, that we do not handle the cold all that well. Hot and steamy weather? That's our forte. As this time of the year rolls around, we're never really sure what to do. Maybe we'll figure it out eventually.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
