Nothing is worse than the beginning of the year limbo. It’s not really summer anymore and it’s not really fall yet either. School just started and everyone is still getting back into their routine. There are no long weekends or holidays to look forward to -- except Halloween, but that’s still ages away. The weeks start to drag on and it begins to look very bleak. But I’m here to tell you that it’s not all bad, there are plenty of things to look forward to this week.

  1. The First Day Of Fall

All I can say is finally! It feels like we’ve been waiting for Fall to officially start for months now. On thursday it will finally be acceptable to look forward to Halloween, go apple picking, and eat all of the pumpkin flavored things your heart desires. It also means we can start wearing fall colors, orange, brown, red, basically anything that you would see fall off of a tree this time of year (disclaimer: I am not a fashion expert -- I don’t really know if these are fall colors or if it is acceptable to wear them yet. Please consult any fashion magazine for real advice).

2) All The Cups Of Coffee You’ll Drink This Week

I’m sorry to all the people who don’t drink coffee, but like seriously, is that a thing? I think you should try it again, it’s really incredible. I hate that I have become such a stereotype, but I love my coffee in the morning, and in the afternoon, and sometimes the evening. Everything about it is amazing: the smell, the look, the taste. I would instagram it every morning if that was socially acceptable. My coffee makes my morning, and so therefore my week. What I wouldn’t give for a cup right now.

3) TV Is Back

Wahoo! Everyone should throw their hands in the air and do a dance because the shows are back this week. We can finally say goodbye to the terrible summer television we have been suffering through and say hello again to actually good TV. Maybe we’ll find out How exactly To Get Away With Murder, if Mindy and Danny will get back together, or if Jane will stay a virgin forever, and so much more. There is honestly nothing better than the start of a new TV season because it’s all so exciting and fresh and hasn’t had the chance to disappoint you yet. When TV is back, life is good.

4) My Dad’s Birthday

Ok everyone, Thursday is my dad, Macy Kisilinsky’s, birthday. He loves birthday messages so make sure to make a reminder and write him something nice on his wall on Thursday. I’m sure he’s looking forward to it. You’re turning 30 right? Have a happy birthday, Daddy, love you!

5) The Weekend

Ok, I know what you’re going to tell me, it’s not healthy to start looking forward to the weekend on Monday. But first of all, don’t tell me what’s healthy and what’s not, I’ll get through the week however I need to get through the week. And second of all, it’s totally fine, it builds excitement and teaches patience. The weekend was one of the greatest things ever invented, so it’s only natural to look forward to it. You can jam in as much fun stuff as possible or totally chill and veg out on the couch. The weekend is the perfect way to revamp for the next week and come up with another five things to look forward to.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
