There is nothing people like more than nostalgia. At least that's what the entertainment industry is cashing out on. What they don't know and maybe what we fail to understand is nostalgia can't beat true art. This past week fans have been reintroduced to a couple of unreleased tracks from the early career of Ariana Grande. Now when I think nostalgia I think of the many times I tried to hear unreleased clips of sound bits from what fans anticipated Ariana's sound to be way back around 2012.
Now the full tracks of Ariana's old beats have been released on SoundCloud by Ariana herself along with a remix of her hit "Into You" from her third album "Dangerous Woman." Talk about doing more than cashing on nostalgia.
As usual Ariana Grande creates not only for herself but for her fans and the real treat is the music. Aside from the mainstream hits from the cool cat artiest the underground 50s vibing tunes have brought life back from the past to the present in a way no one could have expected.
The crime here would be if I only talked about a few recently released tracks instead of the musical buried hits only long time fans would remember. Here are five songs that mark Ariana Grande's developing music career ,aka Ariana Grande's Fetus music.
1. "Pink Champagne"
Many fans were disappointed this song never made it on to Ariana's first album Yours Truly, but Ariana responded by releasing the full song for free and we can't thank her enough. With it's happy upbeat message it's a classic, also performed during her tour as a special treat.
2. "Honeymoon Avenue"
Probably the only track that has made it onto an album, "Honeymoon Avenue" has been a staple of Ariana's since the first time the song was ever heard at a special fan concert. The performance was recorded and put on YouTube giving our ears access long before it's official release. Within the first few seconds we are transported to a different time filled with it's own trouble and sweetness. "Honeymoon" was also the name of Ariana Grande's first world tour and the name manages to sneak it's way in the "Into You" music video.
3. "Boyfriend Material"
No one has brought back the 50s beat in quite the same way. This track was a follow up to the likes of "Honeymoon Avenue" and "Pink Champagne." It never made its way on an official album, but its release was still highly desired and once again Ariana Grande delivered. Makes you wonder what Ariana's first album would've sounded like if "Yours Truly" never came along in the form of "The Way."
4. "Voodoo Love"
With the same intent this track was once teased to keep fans in anticipation for Ariana's first album. It's first release came short as the audio never fully made it to anyone's ears. Now Ariana Grande has released the song on SoundCloud along with the OG version of "Honeymoon Avenue" as an unexpected surprise this past week.
5. "Higher"
Long before anyone knew her name even after her performance in the musical 13 no one knew who Ariana Grande was and her music career didn't exist. Yet the talented woman we all know today never stopped pursuing her dreams and created tracks like this one hoping some day she'd make it big. Well her dreams did come true. This track was deemed too mature at the time by Ariana Grande's mother Joan and only fans of the singer have probably ever heard it. Along with this fun upbeat underground sound came other tracks like Stick Around featuring Graham Philips and the incomplete "Let it Rain."
Nostalgia hits us in many ways, but the best kind is the nostalgia of something once incomplete and now completed. As Ariana Grande's career continues to grow I wonder if any more gems like these will one day resurface for the ears of fans and critics alike. Now highly in anticipation for the "Dangerous Woman" tour we can only hope more music is secretly dropped and special song performances reoccur.
