5 Facts About Me
Brittany Hughes

I haven’t formally introduced myself so what’s a better time than now?
So here are five facts about me:

  1. I’m an only child by my biological parents, but I have four step sisters and four step brothers. I met them when I was about eight years old and at first it was difficult spending my weekends with them, but I adjusted and we had fun times and good memories. I enjoy having sisters and brothers because it’s a mix of personalities and we enjoy each others' company when we’re bored. I am the oldest of the girls and the third oldest of the guys. We usually watch TV together or go places that all of us agree on.
  2. I am originally from Wisconsin and have lived in Jacksonville for about a year and a half. Yes, my family are die hard Packer's fans and the cheese is better back home. I love it here though and don’t mind the hotness. I go to the beach here a lot because there wasn’t a beach at home. I go to college at Florida State at Jacksonville and have met people from around the world.
  3. I was born on November 9th at three months premature and was released from the hospital in February. Gratefully, I was born healthy and had minimal problems. My mom kept the Christmas tree up until I was three just, so I can be her gift every year. The fact that my horoscope sign is a Scorpio means that I carry signs of a Scorpio is interesting for a person that was supposed to be born three months later.
  4. When I was younger, I wanted to be a ballerina and liked to dance around my room. Now I hardly dance and am actually into health care. I like to help people and always felt like it was in my blood. I enjoy working with younger children and the elderly because they provide a broader perspective of life.
  5. I am left handed which many believe is some kind of ancient greatness (LOL). I used to be ambidextrous when I was younger but somehow I started using my left hand more than my right one. I happen to be the only one in the family with the left hand trait which is interesting when it comes to placing hands on the dinner table during dinner.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
