Moving into college can be super stressful and hectic. On top of the fact that you have to pack up literally everything you own including clothes, toiletries, kitchen and cleaning supplies, you also have to think about how you are going to pack that stuff up and transport it to your new home for the next four years (or beyond).
As I pack to move back up to the greatest university in the world (GO NOLES), I noticed myself that the means of transportation to move all of my stuff back up to school was not yet determined. It may just be me, however, I wanted to share some things I added to my packing list for school so that I could move my stuff safely back to Tallahassee.
1. Clean trash bags
I am an avid user of trash bags to transport my things. They're cheap to buy in large quantities, they're water-resistant, and durable, making trash bags a viable option when choosing how to transport your items. In addition to that, trash bags can be used as make-shift garment bags for your dresses, suits, or more delicate clothing items that need to be transported. Just cut a small hole in the top and rubber band the hangers to make your "hanger clothes" easily movable.
2. Boxes
As if this wasn't a no brainer, many people, including myself, often don't remember or think about boxes to hold all of their stuff. As you can probably tell, I genuinely didn't even ponder the fact that I need those brown shipping type boxes to transport my decor and tchotchkes because I usually use trash bags. So, this is a heads up to all of y'all that are like me: don't forget your boxes!
3. Suitcases
Even though you might love using trash bags and piling all your extra clothes in there, you're going to need suitcases or travel bags with you in college for weekend road trips and vacations home. Since you have to bring bigger sized bags anyway, you might as well use them as storage to transport your things!
4. Tools
You will almost always have something to put together in your repertoire of things for your dorm/apartment/house. A lot, and I mean, a lot of people forget to bring hammers, nails, screwdrivers, and other tools to put together things like desk hutches and TV stands.
5. Cleaning suppliesÂ
When you move into a dorm, apartment, or house (especially in a college housing situation) there is a good chance your living space will be dirty upon moving in. It may not be totally filthy, but it also may not be up to your standards. Also, you may make a mess yourself while moving in with dust and trash. Cleaning supplies like Clorox wipes, trash bags (with intent to be used for trash), and paper towels could be beyond useful for your move-in experience.
