Being from a small town, I always wanted to get out and move away. I wanted to forget the country music, cornfields, and familiar faces. But after leaving my small town and going away to college, I have appreciated all the little things that remind me of my hometown. I grew to love the little things that reminded me of my friends and those quiet summer nights spent around a bonfire. As summer approaches, there's a handful of songs that remind me of those moments with the friends I share a million memories with. These songs get me hyped to be reunited with old friends, as well as new friends to make memories for the season that is quickly approaching us.
1. "Water Tower Town" - Scotty McCreery.
This song simply is the definition of home. Friday nights, football, bonfires, and friends. Everybody knows each other and says "Hello," and you cannot replace that small town community with anything else.
2. "House Party" - Sam Hunt.
Those summer nights with high school friends just getting together and having a blast, doing whatever stupid things come to mind. This song gets blasted from several of my friend's cars on late night Dairy Queen runs, a night in with the girls, and of course, house parties.
3. "Make Me Wanna" - Thomas Rhett.
It's Thomas Rhett. No explanation needed!
4. "Drunk On Your Love" - Brett Eldredge.
With summer comes new loves and old flames. Whether you're by the pool with your girls or with your man, this song lifts your spirits and makes you want to sing along, and maybe have a drink or two.
5. "Here's to the Good Times" - Florida Georgia Line.
The song that explains everything. Florida Georgia Line has made a presence in every summer memory I have from home. My friends have been obsessed for years, and FGL's music has been present at every bonfire, car ride, and beach scene I have ever been at.
So here's to the good times, another summer, and the memories that will come with it. Cherish the little things and thoroughly enjoy that summer sun.
