5 Christmas Pandora Radios for Those of Us Who Are Sick of Mariah Carey Christmas

The second that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are no longer available at Starbucks, you best believe all of us basic girls are whipping out the Christmas music and switching over to Peppermint Mochas. "Mariah Carey Christmas" on Pandora is a long time fan favorite; however, it’s quite possible that you’re already sick of it.

Today, I’ve come up with five other options you might want to check out that will still inspire yuletide cheer.

1. CHRISTMAS RADIO

For all the traditionalists out there, this is a must-listen station. When you think “Christmas music,” this is what you most likely think of. Christmas Radio will have sugar plum fairies dancing through your dreams. It’s a mixture of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams and all the greats. If you don’t recognize some of those names, don’t worry, I can promise you that they’re the ones who made your favorite Christmas songs famous in the first place. So snuggle up in your PJs, grab a cup of cocoa, get cozy by the fire and enjoy.

2. ELECTRONIC HOLIDAYS

Do you love raves? Do you love Christmas? If you answered “yes” to both of those questions, then this is the station for you. I’ve always been concerned that there weren’t enough outlets for dubstep lovers to embrace the holiday season in their own unique way. But don’t you worry folks, Pandora has taken care of you! Grab your neon attire, put on those beloved shutter shades and get ready to get down to Electronic Holidays. It’ll have you wishing Christmas Light’s shows included more laser elements.

3. TROPICAL HOLIDAYS RADIO

Do you enjoy the holidays but kinda wish you were away from the cold and snow and lounging on a tropical beach somewhere? Might I suggest this station! Tropical Holidays is a lovely compilation of ukulele-heavy music that is sure to get you in the holiday mood. Listening to this station had me dreaming of warm, sandy beaches and string bikinis. Then I remembered how much I’ve been eating over the holidays, and how little I’ve been exercising and was really glad that I wasn’t ACTUALLY at the beach. You can feel like you’re at the beach while sipping eggnog and wearing your stretchy pants; it’s the best of both worlds!

4. HIPSTER HOLIDAYS

You like Christmas, but… you don’t really want anyone to know how much you like it. This radio station is for people who wear ugly Christmas sweaters because they actually think vintage clothes are totally rad. While you sit in your room, hiding from your family and drinking hot cider, enjoy this collection of She & Him, Death Cab For Cutie, Sulfjan Stevens, The Head and The Heart and other great indie bands. It’s all your favorite classic christmas songs but they don’t make you feel like a mainstream loser. If you end up liking this channel, I just want you to remember that I showed it to you first. I discovered this sh*t.

5. JAZZ HOLIDAYS

If you’re looking to turn on your holiday honey, crank up this channel and you’re sure to have them swooning. This station will make sure you have just the right amount of saxophone to spice up your holiday break. Listening to this station will make you want to whip out your nicest suit and smoke a cigar even though they’re totally gross. The Vince Guaraldi Trio, Norman Brown and David Benoit are all frequently played. Jazz Holidays makes me think of fedoras, but like, in a good way.

I hope these suggestions will help you all get out of your Christmas music rut. Don’t worry, I won’t judge you if you still listen to Mariah too. Merry Christmas and happy listening!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
