On Tuesday January 12th, Obama gave his final State of the Union address and in the hours following, numerous memes popped up online that were all too good to pass up. If you were to look back on all of Obama's SOTU addresses you'd see that memes were aplenty. This year the memes included everything from: Obama clapping back to the haters, or Obama and Biden's bromance, or people in the audience or a very disgruntled Speaker of the house *cough cough* Paul Ryan *cough cough* Here's a list of the the best memes to come out of Obama's final State of the Union.
1. The Clap Back
In his final SOTU address Obama said that ISIS could not threaten America and get away with it, and why don't you go ask Osama Bin Laden? ....oh wait. This was for the critics who say that Obama is lax when it comes to terrorism and criticize him for standing up for Muslim Americans.
Near the end of his speech last year Obama graced us with this infamous clap back: "I have no more campaigns to run....I know because I won both of them." God speed, Obama. We will sure miss you letting the haters know who's the boss.
2. The Unknown Audience Member
Also this year, this picture of a woman looking quite concerned about something in the audience made its rounds on social media with captions like "when you realize you left the oven on."
3. The Emojis
This meme perfectly describes this trio's emotions during the SOTU. Obama was just doing his thing and Joe Biden was loving it. Can you say goals? I want someone to look at me the way Joe Biden looks at Obama. And of course, Paul Ryan was not amused, barely cracking a single smile throughout the entire address.
4. The Paul Ryan
It was clear early in the address that Paul Ryan was not going to smile for the cameras. In fact, it seems the only time he smiled was when Obama mentioned his work on poverty, and then it was back to the "poker face" for the rest of the address. He even hesitated to stand and clap at the end--c'mon don't be a poor sport.
5. The Paul Ryan Cover-Up
At some point, most people got sick of Paul Ryan's negativity and just covered up his side of their T.V. And who could blame them? His negativity was almost laughable.
In this new age of technology and social media it can be certain that no matter who wins the 2016 election, there will surely be more memes to come.
