It's almost that time of the year again. The snow is starting to melt revealing the green grass that was hidden underneath, birds start chirping in the early hours of the morning and finally, the weather starts to get warmer with the sun coming out behind the clouds. Don't get me wrong, I love winter and the wonderland it creates when it snows but warmer weather and summer vacation sounds pretty great right about now. And with summer in mind, what's better than the thought of ice cream on a hot, summer day?! Here are my top five, favorite places to go for ice-cream around Western, Connecticut.

1. Milkcraft -- Fairfield, CT

Not only do they make their ice cream with liquid nitrogen, Milkcraft offers a variety of crazy flavors to try such as S’mores Campfire, Cookie Butter Blue, Strawberry Balsamic, Milk and Cereal and Vietnamese Coffee all served in the iconic bubble cone.

2. Cream and Sugar Cafe -- Bethel, CT

Known for their extreme milkshakes, Cream and Sugar Cafe is the place to be lately in Bethel. Stop by for a Colossal Cookie Shake, a scoop of your favorite ice cream or even some coffee and crepes.

3. Ferris Acres Creamery -- Newtown, CT

If you’re not up for something like the crazy creations above, go to Ferris Acres for a traditional, homemade ice cream cone or milkshake on a hot, summer day. Plus enjoy the greenery and cows while you eat!

4. Il Bacio’s -- Danbury, CT

Like Ferris Acre’s, Il Bacio’s serves fresh, homemade ice cream that will hit the spot on a hot summer day. And if it’s not summer yet? Don’t worry! They’re open year-round so you can pick up your favorite scoop of ice cream whenever you want.

5. Ashleys Ice Cream -- Madison, CT

Ashley’s may not be located in Western Connecticut but it’s definitely worth a visit. Thanks to my parents, Ashley’s is now one of my favorite places to go for a quick bite of ice cream on the way home from Hammonasset Beach in the summer.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
