As someone who has dealt with various diet restrictions over the years, I understand what it is like to have limited snack options or difficulty ordering at a restaurant. Being on a gluten-free diet has challenged my temptations to indulge in certain foods, especially as a college student; however I have discovered a lot of great snacks that satisfy my cravings when I am on the go.
1. Skinny Pop
Popcorn has always been a favorite snack of mine, but there is something about Skinny Pop that is especially tasty. There are no artificial ingredients and only 39 calories per cup.
2. Justin's Almond/Peanut Butter
This stuff is seriously good. Nut butter is filled with protein and Justin's makes so many delicious flavors, like vanilla, chocolate, honey and maple. I eat it right out of individual packets, but also goes well with oatmeal or apples.
3. Gluten-Free Pretzels
There are various brands of gluten-free pretzels that taste pretty similar and most grocery stores have them. They are crunchier than normal pretzels, which makes them better, in my opinion.
4. Larabars
My mom got me hooked on these and now I can't stop buying them. They are made with dates, nuts, etc. There are tons of flavors, but the chocolate chip cookie dough is my favorite because it tastes like dessert. Plus, these are super easy to carry around in a backpack.
5. Bob's Red Mill Oatmeal
I love these before class in the morning because they are quick and easy. All I need to do is fill the individual cup with soy milk (or whatever you prefer) and heat it in the microwave. The apple cinnamon flavor is SO good.
I encourage you to try these yummy snacks, too!!
