Im sure everyone has heard of Pokemon Go by now. The app that has seamingly taken over peoples lives. Some people love it and some people hate it. Whether you were into Pokemon before or not, it still got a lot of people up and out of the house. I personally love the idea that an app can be so influencing on our own lives to make us want to move around. An app that can make you want to walk, bike and socialize with other pokemon players. Augmented reality is what its called when the world around you is virtualized through your phone or some other VR device. This allows the real world to include the imaginative and creative filters we see in video games. In pokemon’s case, they just populated the world with Pokemon for you to physically go out and catch. With Pokemon Go’s success I feel that there may be a wave of augmented reality apps to come out. Here are 5 app ideas, that could make use of augmented reality to make a fun game and also get people out and moving.

Zombie Land

Imagine instead of you running after Pokemon you were in a world full of zombies that were coming to eat you! See where the zombies are coming from on your phone and run away from them. Fend them off by throwing fire at them like you would through Pokeballs at Pokemon. Go out and hunt those brain eaters to get points to earn more firepower and upgrades. Upgrade with guns and crossbows, and even a shelter so that zombies can’t get you while you sleep.

Minecraft

Go out and search around your area for blocks that you can collect. Look through your phone to see where the blocks are and bring them back to your area to start building. Collect enough blocks to build a building and look through your phone to see what you’ve made. Make a house and physically walk through it, looking at it through your phone. Mine blocks for gold and diamonds to buy new materials to build whatever you want.

Planet Draw

Walk around like you’re the tip of a pencil as your phone draws your path. Look through your phone in a birds eye view to see what steps you need to take to draw your master piece. Go to an open park and draw something big! Other people with the app can also see what you’ve drawn.

Farm Land

Plant crops as you look through your phone in your back yard. Watch them grow based on the actual weather around your area! If the weather has been rainy with lots of sunshine, your crops grow tall and healthy. Walk over your crops when they’re ready to be harvested. Keep livestock and feed them with your crops or make trades with friends.

Ghost Busters

Run around and catch the famous ghosts from ghost busters. Get points when you catch ghosts and earn better weapons. Get a team together to tackle some of the big ghost and save your city.
