The 4th of July is quickly approaching and if you have the day off you’re going to want to make it a day well spent. There are endless possibilities on how to have a great 4th of July ranging from who you hang out with to what you eat. Here are some tips on how to make sure you have the most successful and fun 4th of July possible.
1. Take off work
First things first, you can’t be working and if you are you need to be off by 1 p.m. Reason being that everything starts picking up around noon, you need to be able to get somewhere within a moments notice.
2. Gather your squad
You will need to gather at least three other people, that way if anyone wants to split up you can be partnered so no one is totally alone. This squad must consist of the most fun and outgoing friends you have, no Debby downers or negative Nancy’s. Just people you know like to have a good time and live in the moment.
3. The perfect patriotic outfit
Red. White. Blue. The basic color scheme for this specific day but don’t go around looking like a toddler threw up on you. The basic rule being jean shorts count as your blue and you can find a way to start from there and work around that. You can always stick with the staple and find something with an American flag on it and wear that.
4. Drinks and snacks
If you’re going somewhere that doesn’t serve food, for whatever odd reason, you need to eat and be hydrated. Bring things that are easy for you to carry around unless you plan on scarfing it down like some kind of wild animal. In that case, go ahead and bring the giant medieval turkey leg. Easy snacks are the small bags of chips or granola bars.
5. BBQ every single thing
If you’re holding or attending a bbq you need to grill everything. I mean everything. Veggies can be grilled. Tofu can be grilled, Fish can be grilled and of course, meat can be grilled. Everything tastes better when it’s grilled and nothing says the 4th of July like something grilled.
6. Make your own picture documentary
Take pictures of you and your friends in front of an American flag, pictures of all of the red white and blue outfits you see. Capture the day, you don’t have to keep all of them or spend the entire day living behind your screen but having something to commemorate the day is always nice.
7. Play with sparklers and snappers
As a distraction from the agonizing waiting for the fireworks we have been gifted with snappers and sparklers. Snappers being simultaneously the most annoying sound to hear and the most fun thing to throw on the ground are a great way to pass the time. While sparklers are beautiful to look at will also help you pass the time.
8. Watch the fireworks
Lastly, after a long day spent you get to sit back and watch the fireworks. Cuddle up to bae or your best friends and watch them dazzle the sky. The best part of the fireworks being the finale where they just go buck wild. Also, be prepared for the inevitable “Was that a firework or gunshot” tweet even though we all know it was a firework and there’s never been a shooting in your area.
