40 Things To be Thankful For
Maddie Ruth

As a young adult in this world I have found it easy to become consumed in your life to the point you forget how lucky you are to be living and breathing each day. Your major projects, and bad days make you forget the small things that you should be thankful for. Even when times get rough, or when you feel as though the world is against you. Always remember that tomorrow is a new day everyone has reasons to be happy and thankful, after thinking about reasons why I am thankful and asking close friends and family for what they are thankful for as well I have created a list of things that I believe everyone should be thankful for in life.

  1. You are reading this article.
  2. Which means that you are alive.
  3. Someone in this world cares about you.
  4. You should give that person a phone call after reading this. And thank the inventor of cell phones for making our communication to our love ones quicker process.
  5. You woke up this morning.
  6. If you didn’t today start trying to start each morning with a smile on your face.
  7. Be thankful about how adorable puppies are.
  8. Maybe go adopt a puppy from a shelter today.
  9. Love the beautiful planet we live on.
  10. 10. Warm tea and coffee.
  11. 11. The smell of fresh bake cookies.
  12. 12. People who hug good.
  13. 13. And smell good too.
  14. 14. Having great health.
  15. 15. Ice cream.
  16. 16. Laughter.
  17. 17. People who obey traffic rules.
  18. 18. Vacations.
  19. 19. Surprises.
  20. 20. Kissing.
  21. 21. Sharing a good conversation with a friend.
  22. 22. Creating memorable memories that will last a lifetime.
  23. 23. The ocean.
  24. 24. Volunteers and good causes.
  25. 25. Wisdom from others.
  26. 26. 7 for 27$ at Victoria Secret.
  27. 27. Well actually any kind of clothing sale.
  28. 28. Living an active lifestyle.
  29. 29. Chocolate!
  30. 30. The well being of your friends and family.
  31. 31. Photographs.
  32. 32. Food.
  33. 33. Being in love.
  34. 34. Lazy days and pajamas.
  35. 35. Funny movies.
  36. 36. Good music.
  37. 37. When your skin is sun kissed.
  38. 38. When you accomplish a huge task.
  39. 39. When you have great neighbors.
  40. 40. Laughing so hard that your abs hurt.

The lists of reasons on why you should be grateful are never ending but I hope that you understand the point I am making. Being positive and just glad to live another day on this beautiful planet is always a reason to be happy. People tend to get so caught up on the small things in life that in a few months from now those small things will no longer matter. It is easier said than done, but when you start to live happy you find yourself healthy on the inside and outside. You sleep better, you aren’t as tense and life is easier to handle. As humans it is very common to lose the thought that “everything is going to be okay” we should learn to relax and focus on the positives and leave the negatives out. Once you think about why you should be thankful and what to be thankful for you turn into a happier version of yourself.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
