Living with anxiety is not an easy task. A lot of people in my life do not deal with anxiety and therefore don't always know how to deal with me. I don't think it is possible for me to ever successfully explain what having anxiety is like to people. However, knowing what not to say is a very good start. I sat down and wrote these 40 things one night after having a very serious anxiety attack. I only intended there to be 20 but I quickly realized there were many more things to not be said. Personally, hearing any of these things can make me feel worse. Next time you're around someone dealing with anxiety, try to keep this list in mind. Maybe you will help of instead of making it worse.

1) You're overreacting.

2) Don't sweat the small stuff.

3) Its really no big deal.

4) Calm down.

5) You're fine.

6) Just stop.

7) Just do it.

8) Stop over thinking it.

9) Stressing about it won't solve anything.

10) Everything is going to be fine.

11) I'm stressed out too.

12) It's all in your head.

13) That's never going to happen.

14) Stop stressing.

15) I get it.

16) Just be happy.

17) Just don't worry about it.

18) Just don't think about it.

19) Just take a pill.

20) You're being crazy.

21) You need to relax.

22) Just stop thinking.

23) There's nothing you can do about it.

24) It's just your anxiety making you think that.

25) You have no reason to be scared of that.

26) You're being ridiculous.

27) Don't worry about the small stuff.

28) Everyone gets stressed.

29) Stop acting out for sympathy.

30) Anxiety is not real.

31) Get over it.

32) Move on.

33) It could be worse.

34) Did I do something wrong?

35) You're being rude. Talk to them.

36) What do you have to be anxious about?

37) You have no reason to be on edge.

38) You 're making me anxious.

39) Just breathe.

40) *laughs*

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
