We all know it's nice to have a great GPA you can tell your parents about, the ideal one being a 4.0. Not only is that extremely difficult to achieve and maintain throughout your 4 years, but I've found that there are more important things that I should be focusing on. It's really not going to matter whether you have a 3.74 or a 4.0 at the end of your college years (you're going to get a job either way), so pay close attention to this list of 40 things that you should be focusing on in college.

1. Sleeping in at least once a week

2. Eating a good brunch after a night out

3. Cleaning your room

4. Learning how to cook

5. Taking ugly candid pictures of your friends when you all go out

6. Having a balanced diet

7. Breaking that balanced diet to have a milkshake at 2 a.m.

8. Learning how to make a good drink

9. Paying your rent

10. Buying a new sweatshirt at the bookstore

11. Participating in a philanthropy event

12. Having Sunday dinner with your friends

13. Taking that 3-hour nap (because you deserve it)

14. Facetiming your parents

15. Visiting your friends at other schools

16. Finding awesome ways to decorate your apartment

17. Getting matching tattoos with your roommate

18. Going to your school's sporting events (crazy outfits are a bonus)

19. Learning what taxes are

20. Staying up all night having an existential conversation

21. Figuring out which stores give good college discounts

22. Taking 1 day to binge a season of your favorite Netflix series

23. Having a "Treat Yo Self" day when you're feeling down

24. Eating something other than what's for dinner in the dining hall

25. Answering your emails

26. Calling your grandparents

27. Figuring out what type of job you want

28. Ordering drunchies because carbs are your friend until you graduate

29. Finally learning how to change a tire

30. Finding a mentor that'll help you find a job no matter your GPA

31. Getting in the habit of reading the news

32. Updating your LinkedIn

33. Going on some sort of retreat with strangers

34. Keeping a journal

35. Cleaning out your pictures

36. Cleaning out your contacts (finally delete that ex you haven't spoken to in 4 years)

37. Learning how to use power tools (it'll come in handy, trust me)

38. Focusing on being a good person

39. Trying one of those really intense workout classes that make you want to pass ou

40. Stop stressing over not having a 4.0 GPA

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
