Whether you're flying or driving, listening to podcasts is a great way to make time go by faster. Sometimes listening to music can get repetitive and it can be dangerous to search through songs while driving. There are thousands of podcasts you can subscribe to for free. There are all types of genres for all different interests and desires, like comedy, crime, news, lifestyle, and drama. I'm not an avid podcast listener, but I do believe that listening to podcasts is a great way to get through traveling. Here are four podcasts that I've found to be the best to help pass your time while traveling!
1. "Serial"
"Serial" is a podcast from the creators of the podcast "This American Life", hosted by Sarah Koenig. This podcast is based on a true story about the murder of Hae Min Lee in 1999. Lee's ex-boyfriend, Adnan Masud Syed, was arrested for her death without having all of the evidence. Nearly 15 years later, Adnan was allowed to appeal his conviction and go on trial again. There are two seasons of "Serial" and each chapter is about an hour long. This podcast keeps you on your toes and it's very conversational. I highly recommended "Serial" for anyone interested in mystery and crime.
2. "S-Town"
"S-Town" is also from the creators of "This American Life", and it's hosted by Brian Reed. It's about a man named John, from a small town in Alabama, who contacts Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family. The son allegedly murdered someone. This podcast is a brilliant but extremely complex mystery about a man's life. This is a true-crime genre that is binge-worthy for your long road trips.
3. "My Brother, My Brother and Me"
"My Brother, My Brother and Me" is a comedy advice podcast featuring three brothers from West Virginia: Justin, Travis and Griffin McElroy. With new episodes every Monday, they give advice without having the real qualification to give out advice. Their hilarious charm lets you relax and let loose while you sit in your uncomfortable seat for several hours. If you're in the mood to laugh, I highly recommend this podcast.
4. "Let It Out"
"Let It Out" is a wellness and motivational podcast, hosted by Katie Dalebout. Katie openly talks about her recovery from an eating disorder and covers other self-improvement areas. She also interviews people that she believes will help her listeners find inspiration. Every interview focuses on self-love, personal growth, body positivity, and recovery. If you ever feel as if you need a little inspiration, "Let It Out" is the perfect podcast.
