New York City has Broadway, Lexington has South Limestone. From Thursday to Saturday night, you can bet the sidewalk stretching from Two Keys to Tin Roof will be FULL of (sometimes legal) college students ready to drink away their school pains and celebrate anything and everything that means taking advantage of a good 2-4-1 drink special.
The locally famous 4 pack. The place where Radar drops you off the nerve-racking first time you use your new fake ID, the night of your shotbook and even the night that you celebrate your recent graduation from the University of Kentucky.
Here's a little break down of each of our beloved bars that have been there for us through the good, the bad and the drunk-ly.
Tin Roof: A Live Music JointProbably the most well-known member of the 4 pack amongst the college crowd, Tin Roof actually does always have live music- which is perfect for the brand new 21 year old straight out of her shotbook party who just HAS to be sung Happy Birthday on stage. Tin Roof has a pretty good selection of drink specials throughout the week; not that they need it considering they seem to ALWAYS be crowded- seriously if I was HALF as popular as Tin Roof I would be content with my life.
Two Keys TavernIf it's Tuesday and you're not at Two Keys, you're doing it wrong. Actually, if it's any day of the week that you should probably be in the library studying instead of drinking and you're not at Two Keys, you're doing it wrong. This long standing Lexington favorite has the BEST drink specials throughout the week- unless it's Thursday, seriously what college student has $10 to blow on anything? And, if live country music isn't your thing (I know I know, it's hard to believe these people exist), Two Keys is probably much more your style. Who doesn't like a little Kendrick Lamar break in between rounds of Dixie Land Delight?
The Other Bar
Welcome to the block, little bro! You'd never know this UK student favorite was the newest addition to the South Limestone bar scene. The Other Bar has gained popularity quicker than anyone could have expected over the past year. They are pretty easy on your wallet with their weekly and game day drink specials, making it a great place to go! For what The Other Bar is lacking in size, they double make up for with their signature Bushwacker drinks. Seriously I don't know what's in these bad boys, but they taste like an alcoholic chocolate milkshake and the only explanation is that they were sent directly from heaven above.
The Paddock Bar and Patio
Definitely the big brother of the group, The Paddock isn't exactly the first place Radar drops you off en route from your shotbook party. But that's probably how the regulars like it. If you're looking for a more chill, laid back atmosphere than the other three options, the Paddock is probably for you. The prices aren't too high and the company is always good. Plus, the outdoor patio in front of the bar is a summer favorite for patrons young and old.
