Something brilliant has been going on over at YouTube for quite some time now, and I think we need to talk about it. Countless beauty gurus are making videos in which they film beauty tutorials and product reviews and share them with the world. This isn't a new idea but there are six gals in particular who deserve some serious recognition.
1. NikkieTutorials
This hair and makeup artist hails from the Netherlands and has over four million subscribers on YouTube. She has an outstanding personality and her "Power of Makeup" video launched her into Facebook feeds everywhere. In this video, she applies makeup (flawlessly) to only one half of her face. In the description box, she wrote, "I feel like lately makeup shaming has become a thing. It's as if putting makeup on to have fun is a shame. Therefore, I thought it would be cool to show you the power of makeup. A transformation. Because makeup... is FUN!" This inspired other women to make the same video and to take pride in their cosmetic abilities. Nikkie just recently released a makeup collaboration with Too Faced, which included a liquid eye liner, an eyeshadow primer, a purple mascara, and a makeup palette featuring nine eyeshadows, two blushes, a bronzer, and a highlighter! Needless to say, her fans went nuts and the collaboration flew off the shelves.
2. Shaaanxo
Shannon lives in New Zealand and describes herself as "just your average girl! Except maybe a little bit more obsessed with beauty..." She has her own line of makeup tools and eyelashes and has over two and a half million subscribers. Shannon is one of my favorite beauty YouTubers because of her girl-next-door personality and her impressive beauty looks and style. In addition to impressive beauty tutorials, she also features makeup and clothing hauls. She just released a collaboration with BH Cosmetics, a palette containing nine eyeshadows and nine cream colors to be used as lip or cheek color.
3. Jaclyn Hill
I couldn't possibly compile a list of beauty YouTubers without mentioning Jaclyn Hill. If you haven't heard of her, I'm amazed. On YouTube, she has over three million subscribers. She's been the talk of the beauty-sphere recently because of her gorgeous limited edition collaboration with Becca Cosmetics. She also created a huge (HUGE!) eyeshadow palette with Morphe Brushes, which was limited edition and has been discontinued. Jaclyn has mad skills and one of the bubbliest personalities I've ever encountered. If you can keep up with her, you'll definitely learn more than a few makeup tricks.
4. GlamLifeGuru
I have saved my personal favorite for last. Tati Westbrook has just over one million subscribers and that number is increasing daily. There are several reasons she is my favorite beauty YouTuber. While she does upload tons of tutorials for hair and makeup, I watch her more for her product reviews. She makes it her job to find new beauty launches, put those products to the test, and provide her viewers with her honest opinion. YouTube is her job and she takes that very seriously: she uploads FIVE TIMES A WEEK. She does themes like OMG Tuesday, where she tests an affordable product, and WTF Wednesday, where she puts an outrageously expensive item to the test. Additionally, she does "What's New at the Drugstore?", "Hot or Not," "Products I Regret Buying," and her favorite products of every month. She recently teamed up with Birchbox to create her own box, which featured a collaboration with Love of Color and she's a regular on Amazon's Style Code Live. She's my favorite because she educates beyond how to use an item, she lets her viewers know what's worth the money.
This is where I leave you this week. Good luck not spending hours with these lovely ladies!
