35 Things I’m Thankful for This Year
As Thanksgiving rolls around, we’re all reminded of the many great things we have in our lives. From our constantly supportive family to the roof over our heads, this list of things we should be thankful for can go on and on forever. While I could list the things I’m thankful for for ages, here are thirty things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving.
1. Going to a college where I feel most at home. – Ball State, I don’t know what I’d do without you.
2. “Class is canceled” emails. – Nothing feels better than an extra nap in place of biology.
3. My friends. – They fill my life with joy and laughter, plus they’re my greatest sense of support. Why wouldn’t I be thankful for them?
4. Girl’s nights out. – Whether it’s to the movies or a crowded fraternity house, girl’s nights out always keep me sane and provide a bunch of great memories.
5. My professors. – I have some amazing professors who have made my college experience so wonderful.
6. My family. – Whenever I need someone I know my family will be there. It’s great to have this support system back home.
7. Food. – This one is a given. I love food, and of course we can’t live without it.
8. Netflix. – For allowing me to watch my favorite TV shows from the comfort of my bed and distracting me from homework, I owe Netflix the world.
9. Coffee. – Without coffee, I couldn’t make it to my morning classes.
10. My coworkers. – For being so friendly, kind, and positive. My coworkers make me enjoy my job even more.
11. Pajamas. – There isn’t a better feeling than sliding on my fuzzy pajamas after a long day.
12. My pets. – My dogs and cats bring me so much joy, I couldn’t live without them.
13. Kindness of strangers. – Whether it’s just holding the door open for me or a random compliments, kind strangers can make my day so much better. I’m glad I go to a university filled with so many kind people.
14. Diversity. – Diversity has opened up my eyes to many issues and allowed me to see the world from multiple perspectives. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same.
15. Children. – The innocence, kindness, and joy children pass on to everyone around them brings me so much happiness. The time I spend around children is some of the best time of my week.
16. The Internet. – For providing me resources needed for my education as well as leasure.
17. Good hair days. – Looking like a slob may come naturally for me, but sometimes I’m lucky enough to have a good thing going and for that I’m forever thankful.
18. Lazy Sundays. – Lazy Sundays can be the highlight of my week. There isn’t a better way to end (or start, depending on how you look at it) a week than being curled up in bed without a care in the world.
19. Alone time. – Spending time by yourself can not only be quite relaxing, but it also gives you the opportunity to get to know yourself better and become more comfortable with who you are.
20. Poetry. – I love poetry. Without it, my world would be quite bland.
21. Cuddles. – Cuddles are wonderful, simple as that. There’s nothing I love more than being held by someone else. It just makes my world feel complete for once.
22. A good cry. – Sometimes, letting it all out can make you feel a whole lot better.
23. Spellcheck. – I may be a writer, but I’m far from a good speller. S/o to spellcheck for helping me out when I need it most.
24. Hearing a song that perfectly describes your situation. – There isn’t a better feeling.
25. Freedom of speech. – I’m very thankful I live in a country that gives me the freedom to say whatever is on my mind.
26. Writing for The Odyssey. – I love writing for The Odyssey! Not only do I get to share my voice, but I also get practice at what I plan to do for the rest of my life – share my words with the world.
27. Curves on exams. – S/o to professors who add those four bonus points to our exams, you’re really boosting our confidence (and our grades).
28. Leggings. – They’re comfortable, cute, and go with nearly everything.
29. Free food. – I’ll never pass up a free meal.
30. Music. – Music brings a lot of positive energy into the world, and I can honestly say I couldn’t live without it.
31. Feeling in love. – Whether it’s actual love or just a small crush, the rush of feelings I get when I think about certain people is such a good feeling.
32. Holidays. – Not only are holidays a time to celebrate, but many are a time to reflect.
33. Sales. – Nothing like paying $5 for something that originally cost $20.
34. Getting an education. – Not only am I attending the school I’ve dreamed of forever, but I also have the opportunity to get a great opportunity. Not many people are blessed with this.
35. Life. – Simple as that, I’m thankful for this wonderful, crazy life I have.
