Thirty Texts You Send Your Mom When You’re Home For The Summer

If you’re like me, when you are home for the summer you enjoy spending sometime with the one person that has missed you most of all: your mom. You’ve been apart for a couple months and that good quality time is much needed. But if you’re also like me, you are gone most of the day at work (as she is too) so the only way to communicate is through quick (or not so quick) text messages. When that random thing happens to you in the middle of the day, she is the only person that would care enough to even acknowledge it even if it is a short “LOL.” But here are a few messages that might be exchanged between the big lady and yourself.

1. "This day has already been too long." *sends at 8:30 a.m.*

2. "Missed our morning coffee today."

3. "Guess who I just saw?"

4. "Remember that annoying co-worker I told you about? Annoying me again."

5. "Do you think I get paid enough?"

6. "Should I stop at the store for anything?"

7. "I had the weirdest dream last night."

8. "What are you making for dinner tonight?"

9. "*insert name here* just as me to hang out. Can I say you said no please?"

10. "Should I get Chick-fil-a or Panera for lunch today?"

11. "What did you have for lunch today?"

12. "Can you stop at the store on the way home instead?"

13. "What if we met for lunch?"

14. "Look at what this girl posted on Instagram." *sends screenshot*

15. "What should I say to this text?"

16. "How are you?"

17. "I don't want to go out tonight, let's watch our show."

18. "Have you talked to Dad today?"

19. "Call me when you can."

20. "Can we have something else for dinner tonight?"

21. "Call you in a minute."

22. "Would you judge me for yelling at this guy I work with?"

23. "I'm so tired."

24. "What time are you going to be home?"

25. "What are we going to do when I leave?!"

26. "Can you come home already?"

27. "Do you want to have some wine tonight?"

28. "What if I just walked out of work?"

29. "What do you think about this shirt I might buy?"

30. "I love you!"

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
