Music is a powerful tool, and listening to songs from the past is likely to stir up mixed emotions. As a proud 90’s baby, these songs evoked a strong sense of nostalgia, a reminder of both the good and the bad times.

Some of these classics are still heavily played among today’s generation, and some are a true blast from the past. Who doesn’t love a good throwback?

1. "Far Away" Nickelback

Basically, the only slow song ever played at middle school dances.

2. "Breakaway" Kelly Clarkson

3. "Ignition (Remix)" R.Kelly

You'd be lying if you said you don't still rock out to this classic.

4. "Complicated" Avril Lavigne

5. "I Want It That Way" Backstreet Boys

6. "Closing Time" Semisonic

This classic now symbolizes the fictional love between Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake in "Friends With Benefits."

7. "Bye Bye Bye" NSYNC

8. "Apologize" One Republic

9. "Sk8er Boi" Avril Lavigne

10. "Don't Trust Me" 3OH!3

11. "Get The Party Started" Pink

12. "Ironic" Alanis Morissette

The classic that now makes a little more sense as we embrace what adulthood throws our way.

13. "Baby One More Time" Britney Spears

14. "Wannabe" Spice Girls

15. "Mr. Jones" Counting Crows

16. "Send Me On My Way" Rusted Root

Am I the only one who first heard this song in Matilda?

17. "All Star" Smash Mouth

18. "All The Small Things" Blink-182

19. "Rich Girl" Gwen Stefani

20. "Beautiful Soul" Jesse McCartney

21. "Tubthumping" Chumbawamba

22. "Too Little, Too Late" JoJo

23. "Shake It" Metro Station

BTW: did anyone else know Miley Cyrus has a brother, who stars in this band?

24. "Fall For You" Secondhand Serenade

25. "Ocean Avenue" Yellowcard

26. "Misery Business" Paramore

27. "Welcome To My Life" Simple Plan

28. "Barbie Girl" Aqua

Arguably one of the worst songs ever made, but for sure one of the most fun to blast and sing-a-long to on a hot summer day.

29. "Bruises" Chairlift

Anyone else remember this song from the multi-colored iPod Nano commercial?

30. "Great Escape" Boys Like Girls

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
