3 Ways To Spring Clean Your Life

Maybe it's the beautiful weather we've been having lately, but it definitely feels like spring is in the air. And with spring, comes spring cleaning. Spring is a time of rejuvenation. A time to get out of the slums of winter and to start fresh like the breeze outside, and grow like the Forsythias. Sometimes, in order to do this, we need to "Spring Clean" our lives. Here are 3 easy ways to start your "Spring Cleaning".

1. De-clutter your room.

This seems like an obvious one. When we think of the term "spring cleaning" we often think about material objects that we want to get rid of. This actually means so much more than that. Yes, it's good to get rid of the useless junk in your room that doesn't serve a need or purpose, but it's even better to throw away items that may have a negative memory attached to it. Maybe it's a picture of you and you ex-BFF or a teddy bear an ex-significant other gave to you. To determine whether you should get rid of it, just simply hold it in your hand and ask yourself: "Does this make me happy/ bring back happy memories? Will I remember I own this in a year? Do I NEED this?" If you answered "No" to any of these, maybe you should let this item go.

2. De-clutter your social media.

This is almost the exact same concept as #1. Of course, I'm not saying you should hold these people in your hand and ask "Will I remember you in a year?" because that would be really silly. My point is, why should you be friends with someone who wouldn't give you the time of day? Clear out the negative people in your life, and make more room for the people who genuinely love and care about you. Life is too short for crummy people. The most important people in your life are the ones who make you happy. Just go through your followers or friends list and ask yourself "Would my life be different if this person wasn't in my life? Does this person make me happy?"

3. Clear your negative thoughts and doubts.

If your'e truly happy with your life, then you shouldn't be doubting yourself. Don't ever doubt your dreams, aspirations, or ideas because they could be a huge impact on the world around you. Clear all those negative doubts out of your head, and think more positively. Clear all those negative thoughts too, whether it be about yourself, someone else, or an opinion. Think positively and love yourself because, to quote RuPaul: “If you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?”

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
