So many times in our lives do we find ourselves wanting more. You could get a brand new car, but still want the next best thing. You could have a great job, a great house, and a wonderful family, but still you want a raise and a bigger house. It's as if no one is ever content with their lives and what they have. We need to be content or else life has no meaning. Here are three of my tips on how you can be content with your life.
1. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
I find myself to be at my lowest point when I have been comparing myself to others, wanting what they have or looking like they do. There comes a time where we have to realize that we are special and unique just the way we are. We were not made to be identical or just like everyone else. If so, the world would be boring.
2. Enjoy What You Have
Along with comparing yourself to others, you need to stop wanting what they have. Whether it be a physical/tangible object or a relationship. Things happen in life for a reason. Maybe you aren't dating yet because it isn't the right time and maybe you can't buy a new car because you'll wreck it within a week of having it. God knows what he's doing. Instead of dwelling on what you don't have, dwell on what you do have. Make a list of all the things you are thankful for in your life and enjoy them.
3. Spend Time with People who Make you Feel Good
I feel my best when I am surrounded by people who I love and I know they love me back. There is no use surrounding yourself with toxic friendships and people who drag you down. You cannot be happy like that. If you find your friends are making you feel your worst, then it's time to kick them to the curb. Not literally, but it's time to start making some new friends who truly care about you and see you for who you are.
Ultimately, your happiness depends on you. You are the only one with the ability to change it. Don't let another day go by without being content in your life. Take the steps necessary to change your life for the better and watch in amazement how everything else falls into place.
