3 Tips For Choosing A Major

1. Don't take no for an answer.

It is great to seek advice about the major you are considering but you shouldn't let that deter you from choosing a major that will spark joy in your life. College isn't easy but you can definitely succeed while doing something you genuinely like. Don't let one bad grade or a bad professor make you feel like you can't succeed in a particular area.

2. You don't have to know your major on the first day.

It is okay to be undecided!

I repeat, it is okay to be undecided in college. You do not have to have your entire life planned out on the first day. Take some time to center yourself and find a plan that makes you feel like you can actually make a difference within your community.

3. Take a variety of classes.

Don't take STEM classes without adding humanity classes! That is the only way to know if you'll truly enjoy the path that you are currently on. Taking a variety of classes both within and outside of your comfort zone allows you to make a sound decision. You wouldn't want to be stuck in a career that makes you unhappy. The goal is to do what you love and love what you do.
